By winning the grand prize at last month’s Enigma contest (Vietnam’s first blockchain contest), Vo Viet Anh and Hoang Quoc, creators of DropDeck, won a trip to Singapore to learn more about startup development strategies and the country’s unique incubation and technology opportunities.
The two minds behind the platform for connecting investors with startups were accompanied to Singapore by Infinity Blockchain Lab’s Head of Corporate Marketing, Nicole Nguyen and team-member Tran Kieu Diem. The trip represented a unique opportunity for the young entrepreneurs to get intimate and direct advice from experts in one of the world’s most dynamic startup environments.
The group’s first stop was Spintech Accelerator, a Silicon Valley and India-based incubator. The DropDeck team spoke with Spintech co-founder Ketki about the potential for blockchain technologies to revolutionize industries. The positive meeting has already generated more conversations for development plans and future collaborations between the accelerator and DropDeck as well as Infinity Blockchain Labs.
Next on the group’s tour of the cutting-edge city-state was a working lunch with Anson Zeall. The key Chairman of ACCESS – Blockchain Association and board member of Fintech Association offered valuable information regarding Singapore’s regulatory sandbox and Fintech/blockchain ecosystem. Understanding the opportunities and challenges in global communities will be essential for DropDeck and any other expansion-minded startup.
After visiting incubating space e27 to discuss regional partnerships the group visited the IBM Design Thinking Center to get an understanding of the successes of other Vietnamese entrepreneurs. Chau Ming, Ecosystem Engagement Leader and two Vietnamese members of IBM’s AI Watson project discussed the companies’ efforts, the role of communities in development and the value of accelerator programs.
Day 2 of the trip began with a meeting at 2359 Media to talk about media attention and strategies for technology startups.
The final stop of the weekend was the productive discussion with representatives from peer-lending business Minterest and consultant / seed investor Bangsawan. Both companies were very excited by DropDeck’s plan and accomplishments and they discussed plans for future support. It was a great end to an educational, inspiring and connection-fostering weekend.
This trip embodied the goals of the entire Enigma contest which aimed to help promising young entrepreneurs learn more about the enormous world of opportunity, incubation and collaboration available to blockchain technology companies. We know leading these types of education, community-based efforts will help Vietnam become the global leader in blockchain expertise!
